The Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Bishop Miege 62-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Blue Valley Southwest has scored all season.
Blue Valley Southwest's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ashley Chaput, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Karter Skillman who scored six points.
Bishop Miege's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mary Grant, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Kirston Verhulst was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Blue Valley Southwest's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Bishop Miege, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.
Blue Valley Southwest will head out on the road to challenge Saint Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday. Saint Thomas Aquinas knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Blue Valley Southwest likes a good challenge. As for Bishop Miege, they will be playing at home against Blue Valley West at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blue Valley West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Bishop Miege is ranked fourth).
