The Ben Lomond Scots will head out on the road to challenge the Ogden Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Wednesday, things could have been worse for Ben Lomond, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-55 loss to South Summit. While losing is never fun, Ben Lomond can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while South Summit is ranked 17th).
Despite their defeat, Ben Lomond saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jonathan Alcarez, who scored 14 points along with three blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Malakai Mack was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Ogden unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of South Summit by a score of 77-75. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Wednesday (74), Ogden still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Ogden got a solid performance out of Stockton Marriott, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Marriott continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Jones, who scored 12 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Ben Lomond and nudges their season record down to 5-9. As for Ogden, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Ben Lomond hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 58.5 points per game. It's a different story for Ogden, though, as they've been averaging only 57.7 points per game. The only thing between Ben Lomond and another offensive beatdown is Ogden. Will they be able to keep them contained?
