Edison is 0-3 against St. Mary since November of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rams at 7:15 p.m. Edison will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Edison beat Lincoln 19-14.
Ersel Ware was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 86 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries.
Edison's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Lincoln's QB won't forget Francis Taamu anytime soon given he sacked him three times.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Mary's). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Kimball 70-8. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rams' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Jaguars are ranked 407th).
Edison better keep an eye on Kenneth Moore iii. He was instrumental in St. Mary's win, picking up 40 receiving yards and one TD, while also rushing for 35 yards and one score. Jaden Galvan was another key player, throwing for 104 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 6-for-6 passing.
St. Mary's didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Kimball to a completion percentage of just 31%. The team can thank Mehtaab Bhangu for the heroic effort on defense: he. St. Mary's has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.59 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.59 in their last three games.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for St. Mary's, racking up 22 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Moore iii, who ran a punt back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a kickoff return touchdown from him.
St. Mary's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Edison, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Devin Rasmussen and Galvan. Rasmussen just won't slow down this season and has thrown 19 touchdowns while averaging 232.7 passing yards per game. Galvan has been a dominant force too and has thrown 16 touchdowns while averaging 195.3 passing yards per game.
Edison couldn't quite get it done against St. Mary's when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 35-23. Will the Vikings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
