The Apache Junction Prospectors suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 58-36 defeat at the hands of Gila Ridge. Apache Junction has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Apache Junction still got an impressive performance from Omar Adam, who scored 18 points along with two steals. That was a full 50% of Apache Junction's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Among those leading the charge was Emilio Sabori, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Izaya Hernandez, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Apache Junction's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Gila Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 4-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apache Junction on the road again on Wednesday and play against Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. As for Gila Ridge, they will challenge Yuma at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Yuma is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
