The Brusly Panthers will head out to take on the Kinder Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Kinder's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Brusly hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Brusly's pitchers stepped up to hand Plaquemine an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Green Devils: they've now won seven in a row.
Abigail Heidbrink looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on LillyRose Albarez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Payten Albert, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Brusly kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kinder). Everything went their way against Avoyelles on Thursday as Kinder made off with a 23-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.
Samantha Hayes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kinder got a massive performance out of Abby Fontenot, who went 3-for-4 with seven RBI, three doubles, and two runs. Those three doubles gave Fontenot a new career-high. Carrigan Hill also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Brusly pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Kinder, their record now sits at 14-2.
Brusly beat Kinder 10-6 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Does Brusly have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kinder turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
