Spruce has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Adams Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Spruce will be strutting in after a win while Adams will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Spruce has not done well against West Mesquite recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Spruce came out on top in a nail-biter against West Mesquite and snuck past 39-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Spruce has posted yet this season.
Tionnie Williams and Mesoulay Williams were among the main playmakers for Spruce as the former scored 12 points and the latter scored 18 points. Williams continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.
Meanwhile, Adams' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 56-27 loss at the hands of Conrad. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Adams has suffered since November 17, 2023.
Despite their defeat, Adams saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Harper Davis, who scored nine points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Avery Scott, who scored eight points.
The victory got Spruce back to even at 7-7. As for Adams, they bumped their record down to 3-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Spruce came up short against Adams in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 48-39. Can Spruce avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
