The Mountain View Mavericks will challenge the Timberline Wolves at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Mountain View is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Eagle, who was ranked 11th at the time (Mountain View was ranked sixth). The Mavericks came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 7-3 on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Mavericks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
The team relied heavily on Seth Hecox, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Cooper Schneidt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Mountain View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Timberline sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Eagle on Friday.
Diego Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Isaac Mills was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. He has become a key player for Timberline: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 6-15 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Messerschmitt, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Timberline's win bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Mountain View, their victory bumped their record up to 16-8.
Mountain View came out on top in a nail-biter against Timberline in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Mavericks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
