Baseball Recap: Union County Triumphs

On Monday, the Union County Fightin' Tigers beat the Forest Wildcats 8-3.

Foster Smith looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Trenton Klein was excellent, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffrey Brugh, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

Union County's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Forest, they moved to 8-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union County will square off against Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Forest, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Forest Wildcats face off against Buchholz Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Buchholz will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Forest surely won't give up without a fight.
