Liberty is 0-7 against Sherman since March of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Raiders will look to defend their home field against the Tide at 6:00 p.m. Liberty is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Liberty is headed into the match having just suffered their closest defeat since March 19th on Wednesday. They fell just short of Shady Spring by a score of 6-4.
Alyssa Scarbro made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Katie Mullens, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Sherman entered their tilt with Tolsia on Saturday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rebels a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Tide, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Makayla Harless, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexie Lowe, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Sherman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive games.
Sherman pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Liberty hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Sherman struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Liberty suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to Sherman in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
