They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Valley Center Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last five games Westview has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Westview is headed into the match having just suffered their closest defeat since March 7th on Tuesday. They fell just short of Rancho Bernardo by a score of 5-3. The Wolverines have struggled against the Broncos recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Westview got a good showing from Kaya Rodriguez, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Abby Peake was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Gonzalez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Valley Center came into Wednesday's game having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Vista 20-1 on Wednesday. The Jaguars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Juliana Leichtfuss was a standout: she scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Keliah Harris was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
Valley Center always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Westview's loss dropped their record down to 7-5-1. As for Valley Center, their win bumped their record up to 4-10.
