The Grace Christian Academy Lions put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 58-44 victory over Columbia Academy. Given Grace Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Columbia Academy is ranked 335th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Columbia Academy saw an underclassman step up: Reese Shirley scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Shirley scored a full 38.6% of Columbia Academy's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lillie Gentry, who scored 7 points.
Grace Christian Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Columbia Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Grace Christian Academy will head out on the road to face off against Spring Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbia Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Fayetteville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
