It was a Battle of the Birds when Amherst duked it out with Menominee Nation on Thursday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Eagles. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Amherst let Aubrey Chandler and Presley Voss run wild. Chandler went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Voss went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three runs gave Chandler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Calee Schulist, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Wittenberg-Birnamwood got the win against Manawa on Thursday by a conclusive 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Arianna Inderdahl looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jayda Moenke, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brieleigh Ladika, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters every time they've taken the field this season.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood's record is now 7-0. As for Amherst, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Amherst hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Wittenberg-Birnamwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Amherst couldn't quite finish off Wittenberg-Birnamwood in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 and fell 5-3. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
