Softball Recap: Brookville Extends Winning Streak to Three

Brookville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Oakwood Lumberjacks as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Rylan Eagle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maya Haydon, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lia Viernes, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Brookville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. As for Oakwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Brookville will take on Versailles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Oakwood, they will face off against Cedarville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
