Indian Creek is 8-2 against Hiawatha since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Timberwolves will head out on the road to challenge the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. Indian Creek will be strutting in after a victory while Hiawatha will be coming in after a defeat.
Indian Creek lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Amboy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's contest. The Timberwolves blew past the Clippers 12-3 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Timberwolves considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Avery Boehne was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Indian Creek got a big performance out of MaKenna Barshinger, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Barshinger has posted since back in March. Gretta Oziah also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Hiawatha was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Harvest Christian Academy, falling 35-13. Even if the Hawks couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Hiawatha got a massive performance out of Ashtyn Fredrickson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Conlee, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Hiawatha's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Indian Creek, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-11.
Everything went Indian Creek's way against Hiawatha in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Indian Creek made off with an 18-3 win. Do the Timberwolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
