Basketball Recap: Tucson High Magnet School Comes Up Short

After flying high against Canyon del Oro last Tuesday, Tucson High Magnet School came back down to earth. The Tucson High Magnet School Badgers fell to the Highland Hawks 49-44. The Badgers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.

Despite the loss, Tucson High Magnet School still got an impressive performance from Destiney Brown, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds Brown has posted since back in January of 2024. Amaya Trujillo was another key player, putting up nine points.

Highland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Peyton Jacobsen out in front who posted 24 points along with six boards and three steals. With that strong performance, Jacobsen is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Emilee Searle, who put up 12 points and five rebounds.

Tucson High Magnet School has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Highland, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Tucson High Magnet School has already played their next matchup, a 62-51 defeat against Rincon/University on the 21st. As for Highland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-26 victory against Queen Creek on the 17th.
