The New Castle Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 65-33 loss at the hands of Greenfield-Central. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for New Castle in their matchups with Greenfield-Central: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Morley Blessinger, who scored four points along with ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alana Orr, who scored six points.
Greenfield-Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brooklyn Mcconnell led the charge by scoring 17 points along with four steals. Mcconnell continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Madison Sonsini was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
New Castle has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season. As for Greenfield-Central, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Castle will face off against Tri at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Tri's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while New Castle has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. Greenfield-Central won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Franklin Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Franklin Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
