The Clay-Chalkville Cougars will take on the Oxford Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clay-Chalkville is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Friday, everything came up roses for Clay-Chalkville against Huffman as the squad secured a 56-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven games by 27 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Joshua Woods, who rushed for 95 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in August of 2024.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Clay-Chalkville proved: they limited Huffman to a paltry 3.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Quinten Lowe for the heroic effort on defense: he. Clay-Chalkville didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.5.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Oxford beat Pell City 36-31 last Friday.
Clay-Chalkville better keep an eye on Jay'Lin Taylor. He was instrumental in Oxford's win, picking up 88 receiving yards and one score.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 22 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Taylor, who ran a punt back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a kickoff return touchdown from him.
Oxford didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Marcus Lawler and Kamari English. English has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last ten times he's played.
Clay-Chalkville's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Oxford, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Clay-Chalkville has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 416.4 total yards per game. However, it's not like Oxford struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 352.7 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Clay-Chalkville came up short against Oxford when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 21-10. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
