Lucas will take on a team with plenty of momentum: St. Paul extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday. The Flyers' pitcher stepped up to hand Plymouth a 10-0 shutout. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Isabella Guerra was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Kalizewski, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Mansfield-Bush, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
St. Paul was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lucas' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 14-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of Willard.
Emma Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Olyvia Culler was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
St. Paul pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lucas, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Lucas' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Paul has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Lucas, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given St. Paul's sizable advantage in that area, the Cubs will need to find a way to close that gap.
