After a string of three wins, the Sierra Timberwolves's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 61-49 to Manteca. While losing is never fun, Sierra can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 488th, while Manteca is ranked 243rd).
Manteca was led to victory by Peyton Nieman and Evani Gaeta. Nieman scored 16 points, while Gaeta scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Gaeta is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Santiago Sanders, who scored six points.
Sierra's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Manteca, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Central Catholic the next time they take the court. Sierra will host Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Manteca will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
