The Richards Warriors lost against the Back of the Yards College Prep Bobcats back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Richards fell just short of Back of the Yards College Prep by a score of 27-24. Richards has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Back of the Yards College Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alani Matos led the charge by scoring 6 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Melanie Rivera, who scored 7 points along with 4 steals.
Richards' loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Back of the Yards College Prep, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Richards will be playing in front of their home fans against Chicago Vocational at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Chicago Vocational's defense has only allowed 23.8 points per game this season, so Richards' offense will have their work cut out for Richards. As for Back of the Yards College Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Horizon Science Academy-Southwest at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
