Softball Recap: Germantown Falls Short Against Ranked Madison Central

Germantown faced Madison Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Germantown fell just short of Madison Central by a score of 5-4. The Mavericks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Mackenzie Donnell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits.

At the plate, Julia Glasgow made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Annika Tuggle, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Germantown's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-6. As for Madison Central, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Coincidentally, Germantown and Madison Central will both be playing Clinton the next time they take the field. Germantown will head out to face Clinton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Madison Central will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on April 3.
