This season hasn't been kind to the Esparto Spartans, who are still winless after their 14th matchup. They were outmatched by Highlands on the road and fell 91-45. Esparto lost against Highlands in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 56-50 score last time.
Despite the loss, Esparto still got an impressive performance from Antonio Seastrunk Jr., who scored 33 points along with five rebounds. Seastrunk Jr. scored a full 73.3% of Esparto's points, the 12th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Oliver , who scored six points.
Esparto bumped their record down to 0-14 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Highlands, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Esparto will take on Rio Vista at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Rio Vista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Saturday. As for Highlands, they will head out on the road to face off against San Juan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Juan comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
