The Cox Mill Chargers pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hickory Ridge. Cox Mill was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hickory Ridge apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Cox Mill saw an underclassman step up: Cruz Miller scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. Teeshon Smith was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Cox Mill has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Hickory Ridge, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.
Cox Mill will head out on the road to face off against South Iredell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Iredell is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. Hickory Ridge will take on West Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
