The Windermere Prep Lakers will square off against the Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Windermere Prep sitting on four straight wins and Mount Dora Christian Academy on six.
Windermere Prep took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Bishop Moore, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lakers never let the Hornets get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Thursday. The one-run effort marked the Lakers' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
The result came thanks to Vanessa Nawracaj's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Windermere Prep's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Konstand, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Windermere Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Moore struck out 13 times.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Thursday. Mount Dora Christian Academy was the clear victor by a 16-6 margin over Tavares. Mount Dora Christian Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.
Trinity DeVries looked comfortable as she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lily Bryant, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Butler, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Windermere Prep's record now sits at 7-1. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, their record is now 6-3.
Windermere Prep suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Mount Dora Christian Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2020. Can the Lakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
