The Gering Bulldogs struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (the Chadron Cardinals had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Gering fell just short of Chadron by a score of 44-42. Gering has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Gering still got an impressive performance from Makenzie Todd, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Todd has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Brady, who scored eight points.
It was another big night for Demi Ferguson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds for Chadron. The contest was Ferguson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Taverra Sayaloune was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Gering bumped their record down to 1-2 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Chadron, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gering will be home for the holidays to greet Ogallala on Friday. Ogallala and Gering are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for Chadron, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Bridgeport at 3:30 p.m. on December 16th. Bridgeport is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
