Valentine is 1-7 against North Central since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Valentine will head out on the road to square off against the North Central Knights at 6:00 p.m. Valentine is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
Last Monday, Valentine was able to grind out a solid victory over Stuart, taking the game 46-34.
Valentine relied on the efforts of Paige Sprenger, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Kinsey Buechle, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Buechle has scored at least a third of Valentine's points.
Meanwhile, North Central came up short against Niobrara/Verdigre on Monday and fell 51-38. North Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Valentine's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for North Central, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8.
Valentine didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against North Central when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 34-30 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valentine since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
