Softball Game Preview: Branchville Yellow Jackets vs. Palmetto Scholars Academy Phoenix

Branchville has gone a perfect 3-0 against Palmetto Scholars Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Yellow Jackets will look to defend their home field against the Phoenix at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Branchville comes in on four and Palmetto Scholars Academy on three.

Branchville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against Carvers Bay by a score of 6-3.

Meanwhile, Palmetto Scholars Academy made easy work of Hardeeville on Wednesday and carried off a 16-1 victory. Considering the Phoenix have won eight games by more than 11 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lilah Senn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Senn was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Palmetto Scholars Academy got a massive performance out of Kayleigh Wright, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. McKenna Blankenship was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Palmetto Scholars Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Branchville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Palmetto Scholars Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.

Branchville took their victory against Palmetto Scholars Academy in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Yellow Jackets repeat their success, or do the Phoenix have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
