Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2024-25 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Jordan Watford of
Lancaster is the 2024-25 South Carolina MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-5 senior guard led the Bruins to a 27-1 record and the Class 4A state championship – the first in school history.
For the season, Watford averaged 22.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.2 steals and 2.1 blocked shots per contest. He shot 60.7 percent from the field.
In a 69-55 win over North Augusta in the title game, Watford produced 19 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.
Regarded as a three-star prospect, Watford committed to Queens University of Charlotte over offers from Georgia Southern, Mississippi State, Presbyterian, South Carolina State and Wofford.
