The Columbine Rebels pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 66-57 defeat to Arapahoe. Columbine has struggled against Arapahoe recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Columbine saw an underclassman step up: Jordyn Washington scored 19 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Speir, who scored eight points.
Columbine's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Arapahoe, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-4.
Columbine will be playing at home against Lakewood at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Arapahoe will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against ThunderRidge at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. ThunderRidge is on a three-game streak of home wins, Arapahoe a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
