Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Bulldogs vs. Bishop Gorman Gaels

The Centennial Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Bishop Gorman Gaels at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Centennial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Centennial is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Faith Lutheran, who was ranked seventh at the time (Centennial was ranked sixth). The Bulldogs blew past the Crusaders 10-0 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the game before.

Kane Barber tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Noa Oyadomari, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Centennial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Faith Lutheran only posted a batting average of .158.

Bishop Gorman couldn't beat Legacy on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Gaels took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Longhorns. The Gaels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bishop Gorman also got a good showing from Justin Rodrigues, who pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Rodrigues has allowed since back in April.

At the plate, Patrick Kozielec made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple and one double.

Centennial's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-12. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Bishop Gorman, their loss dropped their record down to 18-12.
