Bunker Hill/Mt. Olive and East Alton-Wood River go head to head this Friday at 11:00 PM. Bunker Hill/Mt. Olive has never lost back-to-back, and it wants to keep it that way.
After flying high the game before (32 points), Bunker Hill/Mt. Olive faltered in its previous match. It simply didn't have it last week, losing 49 - 6 to Marquette Catholic. The team got a solid performance out of senior Johnny Darrah (he ran for 54 yards and also punched in one touchdown); unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. This sound performance was nothing new for Darrah, who has been a rock for Bunker Hill/Mt. Olive in the past eight games.
Meanwhile, East Alton-Wood River can now show off five landslide victories after its game last week. The final score between it and Nokomis last week was a 41 - 6 blowout in East Alton-Wood River's favor. Senior Zachary Womack was especially active in the win, finding the end zone an impressive four times. This also marked the 4th consecutive game in which Womack rushed for 100+ yards. Senior Gabriel Grimes banked an additional two TDs for the team.
Bunker Hill/Mt. Olive's defeat dropped it to 5-3 while East Alton-Wood River's win brought it to 6-2. We'll see if East Alton-Wood River can add another positive mark to its record or if Bunker Hill/Mt. Olive can shake its loss and take the spring out of East Alton-Wood River's step.
