The Agua Fria Owls's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. Their rough 72-52 loss to Cactus might stick with them for a while. Agua Fria has not had much luck with the Cobras recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Owls players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was David Shaw, who scored 16 points along with five assists. Anthony Perez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
It was another big night for Bradey Henige, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 20 rebounds for Cactus. That makes it four consecutive games in which Henige has scored at least a third of Cactus' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Hutton, who scored 18 points.
Agua Fria has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Cactus, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-3.
Agua Fria will head out on the road to square off against the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Estrella Foothills is on a five-game streak of home losses, the Owls a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Cactus will take on the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Goldwater will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 288th, while the Cobras are ranked 39th).
