The South Salem Saxons will head out to face off against the Glencoe Crimson Tide at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Salem has 16 straight wins, Glencoe has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, South Salem got the win against Westview by a conclusive 11-2. The Saxons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Kellen Bowman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kevin Semm and Josh Feik did most of the damage at the plate: Semm went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Feik went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Feik has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Nelson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
South Salem hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Glencoe fell victim to Newberg and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 13-0 to the Tigers. The game marked the first time this season in which the Crimson Tide were not able to get on the board.
South Salem pushed their record up to 16-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Glencoe, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
South Salem's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Saxons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Glencoe, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will South Salem continue to outrun the ball?
South Salem took their victory against Glencoe when the teams last played back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 12-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saxons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
