Hodgeman County was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Spearville 44-0. The Longhorns came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Minneola extended the longest winning streak in Southern Plains-Iroquois (8 Man) this week by beating Deerfield, 54-6. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Jorge Saravia was the best wideout in the league this week as Ashland topped Bucklin. Saravia racked up two receptions for 40 yards.
Matt Mcclaren was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 315 yards as Minneola defeated the Red Aces. Teammate Jerrod Lies added to the ground attack by rushing for 89 yards.
Stetsen Underwood put up the best numbers through the air as South Central lost to Kiowa County. He finished with four completions for 47 yards and one touchdown. Underwood's favorite target this week was Koy Alexander, who caught two passes for 30 yards.
Ingalls's Zeke Cox and Lamontae Heady have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Southern Plains-Iroquois (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Cox has thrown for 761 yards this season, while Heady, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 12 catches for 307 yards. The Wildcats' Mcclaren leads the league in rushing yards with 1394.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Minneola takes on South Gray. The Wildcats are in first place, while the Rebels are in third place.
The Mavericks suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 38-30 loss to the Mavericks. Kiowa County had been ranked 23rd, but fell to 26 following the defeat.
