The Buckeye Central Bucks are taking a road trip to take on the Bucyrus Redmen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Buckeye Central is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Buckeye Central couldn't beat Monroeville on Saturday even though they stacked six runs on them in the fourth inning. The Bucks took a 14-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Even though they lost, the Bucks' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.7 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Aj Jury stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Sophie West was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Bucyrus got the win against Ridgedale on Thursday by a conclusive 13-5. The contest marked the Redmen's most dominant win of the season so far.
Karlee Shull made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Shull was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Bucyrus got a massive performance out of Tori Stang, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Haylee Stratton, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.
Bucyrus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory made it two in a row for Bucyrus and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Buckeye Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Buckeye Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bucyrus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Buckeye Central got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Bucyrus by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bucks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
