In what's become a running theme this season, the Marlin Bulldogs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 73-20 win over Riesel. Winning may never get old, but Marlin sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Marlin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aarik Smith-shelley out in front who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Smith-shelley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerry Willis, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Marlin's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Riesel, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.
Marlin will be playing at home against Hubbard at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Riesel, they will head out on the road to challenge Wortham at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wortham has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12.
