Baseball Recap: Holden Wins Going Away Against Mt. Hermon

Holden got themselves on the board against Mt. Hermon on Thursday, but Mt. Hermon never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 16-0 margin over the Mt. Hermon Yellowjackets. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won eight matches by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Jace Cox looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Cayden Hull was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Lewis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Holden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .773. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Holden has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Mt. Hermon and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holden will take on Zwolle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Holden is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Mt. Hermon, they will host Varnado at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Hermon is facing Varnado at the right time seeing as Varnado is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
