Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Mount Si

Mount Si had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Newport - Bellevue Knights as they made off with a 12-2 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mary Salmon spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery Bielenberg, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Nowak, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Mount Si always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newport - Bellevue only posted an OBP of .308.

Mount Si's record now sits at 5-2. As for Newport - Bellevue, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3-1.

Mount Si wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 18-1 win against Sammamish on the 2nd. As for Newport - Bellevue, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-9 loss against Woodinville on the 2nd.
