Two dominant backs in Easton Bretzing and Kaden Vest are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Timpanogos Timberwolves will head out on the road to face off against the Spanish Fork Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Timpanogos has three straight victories, Spanish Fork has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, everything went Timpanogos' way against Salem Hills as Timpanogos made off with a 35-14 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Timpanogos to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Livingston, who threw for 47 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes, and also picked up 86 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Chase Riggs was another key contributor, throwing for 251 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.9% of his passes.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Spanish Fork had to settle for a 24-21 defeat against Payson on Friday.
Spanish Fork's loss came about despite a quality game from Vest, who rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown. Vest is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Wil Gunter got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Timpanogos' victory lifted them to 7-2 while Spanish Fork's loss dropped them down to 3-5.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as the pair have no problem gaining yardage. Timpanogos has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 463.3 total yards per game. However, it's not like Spanish Fork struggles in that department as they've been averaging 360.5 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Timpanogos might still be hurting after the 46-20 loss they got from Spanish Fork in their previous matchup back in September of 2015. Thankfully for Timpanogos, Nate Keisel (who threw for 175 yards and a touchdown on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
