The St. Joseph Spartans will finish 2023 at home by hosting the West Shamokin Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Joseph is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
St. Joseph pushed their score all the way to 64 last Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Leechburg. St. Joseph has struggled against Leechburg recently, as their matchup last Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, West Shamokin was able to grind out a solid victory over Homer-Center on Thursday, taking the game 61-49.
St. Joseph's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6. As for West Shamokin, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
St. Joseph took a serious blow against West Shamokin in their previous meeting on December 2nd, falling 66-20. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point St. Joseph was down 34-10.
