It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Gateway Gators ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 51-43 victory over Fox Chapel. This was payback for Gateway, who suffered a 59-47 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Several Foxes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was John Rehak, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds. Will Siegel was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 3 steals.
Gateway's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Fox Chapel, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Gateway will head out on the road to face off against Taylor Allderdice at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fox Chapel, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hempfield Area at 7:00 p.m.
