The El Dorado Wildcats can finally bid farewell to their 13-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against Winfield by a score of 58-51. That seven point margin sets a new team best for El Dorado this season.
El Dorado had a senior duo take command as Logan Garner scored 22 points along with five assists and four steals and Chase Lesh scored 16 points along with five steals and two blocks. That makes it four consecutive games in which Garner has scored at least a third of El Dorado's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Greene, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Winfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Christian Moree, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 37.3% of Winfield's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kellen Gibson, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and two blocks.
Even though they lost, Winfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
El Dorado's win ended a 17-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-13. As for Winfield, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-12.
El Dorado will face off against Wellington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in El Dorado's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups. As for Winfield, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against McPherson at 7:30 p.m. McPherson will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Winfield surely won't give up without a fight.
