Sonora has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Summerville Bears at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sonora focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Sonora earned a 40-31 win over Calaveras.
Sonora's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Parker Moore, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Riley Edwards was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Even though Summerville has not done well against Argonaut recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Summerville skirted past Argonaut 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Summerville has posted yet this season.
Sonora's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Summerville, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11.
Sonora lost to Summerville on the road by a decisive 61-47 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Sonora avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
