Baseball Recap: Ben Sink Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Carrollton

Father McGivney Catholic had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Carrollton Hawks get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Saturday. Considering the Griffins have won 25 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kannon Kamp made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Ben Sink was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Justin Terhaar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Father McGivney Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Father McGivney Catholic's win bumped their record up to 34-3. As for Carrollton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season.
