After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Devils Lake, the Thompson Tommies were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They managed a 65-59 victory over East Grand Forks. Given Thompson's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 55th in North Dakota, while East Grand Forks is ranked 206th in Minnesota), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Drew Overby was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brayden Wolfgram, who scored 13 points.
Thompson's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for East Grand Forks, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thompson will challenge Langdon/Edmore/Munich at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. East Grand Forks on the road again on Thursday and play against Fosston at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. One thing working in Fosston's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
