The Carmel Padres will head out on the road to take on the Everett Alvarez Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carmel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Carmel had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt King City on Thursday. The Padres never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Padres considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Olivia Tringali was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Carmel let Delilah Herro and Lily Beals run wild. Herro went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Beals went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Annabella Schroeder was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Carmel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 14-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Everett Alvarez was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 18-1 to King City.
Everett Alvarez saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amaris Perez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Carmel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Everett Alvarez, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
Everett Alvarez's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Carmel hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. It's a different story for Everett Alvarez, though, as they've only averaged .207. Will they be able to contain Carmel's hitters?
Everything went Carmel's way against Everett Alvarez in their previous matchup back in April, as Carmel made off with a 14-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Padres since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
