The Ezekiel Academy Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Southern Christian Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ezekiel Academy has seven straight victories, Southern Christian has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Ezekiel Academy came out on top against Wiregrass on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run third inning. The Knights blew past the Kings 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won 18 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Lailyn Shelton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sarah Vick, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Jillian Newell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Southern Christian came up short against Evangel Christian on Friday, falling 17-2.
Ezekiel Academy pushed their record up to 28-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Southern Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
Southern Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ezekiel Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. It's a different story for Southern Christian, though, as they've only averaged .255. Will they be able to contain Ezekiel Academy's hitters?
Ezekiel Academy took their win against Southern Christian when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
