The Norton Panthers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Ravenna as Norton made off with a 39-16 win. Fans of Norton have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Norton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Willig led the charge by picking up 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Buddy Willig, who rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Norton's victory was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 12-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Springfield and 3-7 Ravenna (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 42.3% over those games). As for Ravenna, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.
Norton will look to defend their home field on Friday against Revere at 7:00 p.m. Revere will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Norton is ranked 56th). Ravenna does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
