The York Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 87-43 loss at the hands of Catawba Ridge. York has struggled against Catawba Ridge recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryson Steele, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Burris, who scored ten points.
Catawba Ridge was led to victory by Lance Barnes and Zyan Hager. Barnes scored 24 points along with four steals, while Hager scored 32 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Barnes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. Landon Foley was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists and five steals.
York has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Catawba Ridge, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
York's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Northwestern at 7:45 p.m. on January 16th. Northwestern is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Catawba Ridge, they will head out on the road to square off against Lancaster at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
