The team relied heavily on Addy Ware, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Jennings County made easy work of Madison on Wednesday and carried off an 8-2 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Cubs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Audrey McDonald looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Maycie Ward was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Byford, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Jennings County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Floyd Central pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Jennings County, their record is now 11-9.
Jennings County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Floyd Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Jennings County, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given Floyd Central's sizable advantage in that area, the Panthers will need to find a way to close that gap.
